Northwestern Ontario Relay for Life, planning continues

Relay for Life volunteers listen as Chair Suzanne Matheson reviews details.

Volunteers for the Northwester Relay for Life, to be held June 11th in Manitouwadge, continue progressing towards a great event.  April 14th, committee chair, Suzanne Matheson, brought together those committed to helping with every aspect of the 12 hour event that they might collaborate regarding elements of the vigil which have yet to be finalized.

Teams participating in the event also met with Matheson, there are four registered teams to date including members from Manitouwadge and Nipigon, survivors and first time participants; it is hoped that last years teams from Marathon and Pic River will soon confirm attendance for the 2010 walk.  Theme for those participating is once again ‘Storefronts’, this allowing the teams many options in regards to fundraising including, selling baked goods, services or crafts the options are endless.  Teams have been challenged to work towards the title of “Most funds raised”.  we have now four confirmed teams.

The 2010 Northshore Relay for Life is gearing up to be an incredible community event once again. For more information regarding volunteering for the relay, a non-competitive 12 hr rally, and the Canadian Cancer Society’s biggest single annual fundraiser, contact Suzanne Matheson or visit www.RelayForLife.ca
