BROWN ANNOUNCES $85,000 FOR FAMILY HEALTH TEAMS

QUEEN’S PARK – Mike Brown, MPP, Algoma-Manitoulin, is pleased to announce that the funding letters for the new Family Health Teams’ Development Grant Agreements have been signed.

Manitouwadge General Hospital, Chapleau Health Services, and Manitoulin Central will each be receiving up to $85,000.00 to develop a business and operational plan for the FHT. These are one-time funds that they can use for consultation, legal, administrative staff and overhead costs. Completing the business and operational plan is a key deliverable and milestone in the FHT development and implementation process so this funding is very important to them.

“I am pleased that these new Family Health Teams are getting closer to providing service to increase access to family health care for the communities of Manitouwadge, Chapleau and Manitoulin,” said Brown.

In December, 2009, Manitouwadge General Hospital, Chapleau Health Services, and Manitoulin Central were three of nineteen new Family Health Teams announced by the Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care.
