St.Martin’s Spring Swap

St. Martin Hosts Spring Clothing Swap

Incredibly, this year's swap received 50 bags of clothes, up 20 from last year (nearly double) all of which Kathie Shermack (parent) sorted at her own residence in .

On Wednesday, April 28th St. Martin Elementary School, Terrace Bay, was host to the bi-annual clothing swap that has generated a considerable amount of interest in our small community.

For three weeks parents from the Terrace Bay and Schreiber communities brought children’s clothing from sizes 0 to 16 (some adult clothing too!) to the school. The organizer of this event, Kathie Shermack sorted all of the clothing according to gender and size and then had it arranged for display in the gym.  Parents were again encouraged to drop in and ‘shop’ for their children during this time.  The intent was for parents to “bring what they could and take what they needed”!  Many children also attended and were thrilled to shop for their own ‘new’ clothes.

Mrs. Shermack has definitely brought an exciting experience to our community that has become a tradition in the Fall and Spring.  This event has almost doubled in size as the donations grew from 30 bags of clothes donated to over 50! The clothing that remained at the end of the evening was donated to the Diabetes Society.

Start saving your children’s clothes and join us for our next clothing swap to be held in the Fall!
