Play leads to learning at Rail Museum

SCHREIBER, ON – Tuesday. Aug. 10, Staff at the Schreiber Tourist Information Centre/Rail Array today hosted a Kids’ Games Day from 1:00pm-3:00pm. 16 Participants were into teams for a relay obstacle course, balloon toss (in pairs) and tug-of-war.

There was also a bouncy castle inflated for the children to enjoy. Prizes were awarded to the winners of the balloon toss, and tug-of war near the end of the afternoon. A round of Simon Says was played to decide the winners of the last two prizes as the warm weather required a somewhat less physical game. All of the kids enjoyed themselves thouroughly, many getting wet while playing with the water balloons.

Several children took the opportunity to walk through the museum with their parents and looked at the artifacts as the staff had hoped though there was some disappointment that these were the minority. Overall, the afternoon was a great success and Kimberly Fairservice, Museum Summer Supervisor and her co-worker felt their efforts had been very worthwhile.  If you need anymore information or details please email us back. 🙂
