Nipigon OPP Weekend Review

IMPAIRED DRIVER CHARGED

NIPIGON, ON –During the long weekend of October 8 to October 11, 2010 Nipigon and Schreiber Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) issued 62 Provincial Offence Notices and responded to 50 calls for service.  Police conducted 12 R.I.D.E. checks and investigated 7 motor vehicle collisions.  The motor vehicle collisions investigated were all single motor vehicles involving wild animals.

On October 9, 2010 Nipigon OPP received a complaint of a possible impaired driver in the Town of Nipigon.  At approximately 10:20 p.m. police located the suspect vehicle on First Street, Nipigon.  The 29 year old male driver, Kenneth MURRAY, of Thunder Bay, Ontario, was arrested and charged for Impaired Operation of a Motor Vehicle and Operation of a Motor Vehicle with Over 80 mg of Blood Alcohol Content contrary to the Criminal Code.  The driver was further charged with Breach of Probation and Drive While Disqualified contrary to the Criminal Code.  The male is to appear in Nipigon Criminal Court on November 23, 2010 to answer to these charges.
