Schreiber OPP Weekend Review

SCHREIBER, ON – Schreiber OPP investigated a single motor vehicle collision that occurred on Hwy 17, Township of Strey, on October 10 at 9:05 p.m.  An East bound motor vehicle struck a moose.  The 37 year old male driver of Sault Ste Marie, Ontario was transported by ambulance to McCausland Hospital for non life threatening injuries. 

Schreiber OPP investigated numerous complaints of mischief and thefts that occurred on October 5, 2010 in the Town of Schreiber.  A 19 year old male, Curtis CACCAMO, of Schreiber, Ontario was arrested and faces 51 Criminal Code charges including numerous counts of Mischief Under $5000, Theft Under $5000 from a Motor Vehicle, Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5000, Robbery with Theft, Possession of a Weapon for a Dangerous Purpose, Breach of Probation, and Break and Enter.  CACCAMO was further charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance contrary to the Controlled Drug and Substance Act.  The accused remains in custody and is to appear at court in Thunder Bay on October 12, 2010 to answer to these charges.

As a result of this investigation numerous property items have been recovered.  Police are requesting that anyone with outstanding property from this incident contact the Schreiber OPP detachment with a list of missing items to identify their property.  This will enable the property to be returned to the rightful owner.

NIPIGON, ON –During the long weekend of October 8 to October 11, 2010 Nipigon and Schreiber Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) issued 62 Provincial Offence Notices and responded to 50 calls for service.  Police conducted 12 R.I.D.E. checks and investigated 7 motor vehicle collisions.  The motor vehicle collisions investigated were all single motor vehicles involving wild animals.
