This Week at Manitouwadge Public Schoool
Students in Mrs. McLeod’s Grade 2/3 Social Studies class were “shaking things up” last week as they learned, first hand, how to make butter. After, what seemed to the students like long excruciating minutes of vigorous and strenuous exercise, a delicious, creamy butter was created. Instead of purchasing the butter, pre-made, the students employed a method similar to that which our ancestors utilized.
The effort expended by these young, energetic students in order to generate this tasty treat was rewarded when they eagerly devoured their butter. All students were pleased with their accomplishment and each of them was able to bring home a sampling of their efforts for all to enjoy. As well, students developed a deeper appreciation and understanding of the hardships and difficulties which our ancestors had to endure in order to survive.
