FREE Games Week in Manitouwadge

Facilitator/supervisor Robyn Timms gives participants a demonstration of how the ring toss is done.

MANITOUWADGE, ON – Monday, November 1st Free Games Week kicked off at the Manitouwadge Recreation Centre auditorium with Family Game Night.  Though attendance was less then expected, those who did attend had a great time playing ladderball, 10-pin bowling, horshoes, stack’em and other games provided on site.

Game Night Supervisor, Robyn Timms, was glad to show everyone how to use the equipment and brief participants on the rules of the games.

The Free week is an opportunity for residents to try the activities before registering as Family Games Night, Teen Games Night, Adult Games Night and Senior Games Days, the last being offered Monday through Friday from 10am to Noon, will potentially run through to the Spring.  The only obstacle seeming to hinder attendance recently is the warmer than seasonal temperatures which have kept Manitouwadge residents enjoying the great outdoors.

Emeraude Charron practices her version of the technique tought by Robyn.

Community Programmer Shawna Patterson was hopeful that attendance would increase once colder weather arrived “We will keep the programs running until the Christmas holidays and see what happens when the snow flies.” Said Patterson adding that “We may get more people out and doing things in the evening when it is colder out”.  The programs are incredibly affordable, just $11.50/person or $28.50/family for the entire season which will end May 2011.

Free Games Week continues in Manitouwadge tonight with Teen Games Night and tomorrow with Open Games Night. For more information contact Shawna Patterson at the Township or CLICK HERE to view the complete auditorium schedule.
