MARATHON, ON –On Tuesday November 16, 2010, at 2:45pm Marathon and Manitouwadge Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officers were conducting a R.I.D.E check on Highway 17 in Bomby Township when a quantity of marihuana was discovered in a beige Honda CRV traveling westbound.
The lone occupant of the vehicle, thirty year old Markku HEISKANEN of Thunder Bay has been charged with Possession of Cannabis Marihuana over 30 grams. He was released from custody with a first appearance court date of February 3, 2011 in Marathon.
The public is encouraged to call 911 or contact police at 1-800-310-1122 whenever suspecting that a driver is impaired while operating a motor vehicle whether it is a car, truck, motorcycle, ATV, snowmobile, boat or even an airplane.
