SNCFDC Assists Fish & Game Club To Offer Workshop For Guides

RED ROCK, ON – The Red Rock Fish and Game Club will be hosting a Fly Fishing Workshop for Guides May 27th through 29th and June 20th at their clubhouse.  The workshop, funded in part by a Local Iniatives Contribution from Superior North CFDC, is being presented by Instructor John Valk of Grindstone Angling and is open to any interested persons.

Fly fishing is becoming more and more popular with both men and women and anglers are travelling to Northshore communities to practice their skills and try their luck at landing the ‘big one’l Superior North CFDC sees the growing popularity of this style of angling, and the thirst for knowledge those practicing the sport have in regards to techniques and refining their skills as an incredible opportunity for Northshore entrepreneurs. SNCFDC Business Outreach Officer Ron Salo, explained why the SNCFDC beleives the workshop’s benefits go far beyond the knowledge and experience would-be guides will acquire “Guides are increasingly in demand. Anglers planning adventures on the Northshore want a guide to enhance their experience; to provide them with tips and tricks to ensure success on their fly-fishing expidition but it is not only the student-guide who benefits. More guides in Red Rock and area will translate into more tourists; these of course pay for their guide but they also spend on accomodations, meals, gas, memorabilia, etc and because a guide helps make their visit is a more memorable one, they return to their homes and spread the word about the exceptional Northshore Angling Experience“.  The SNCFDC and the Red Rock Fish and Game Club believe more guides can translate directly into more dollars for local businesses, enriching the local and regional economy and expanding the services offered through Northshore resorts, inns and bed & breakfasts to welcome a broader client base

Those planning to participate in the workshop, are men and women who understand that guides are in high demand and that the workshop will allow them to network with fellow guides and resort owners, in addition to learning valuable business techniques. For those looking to begin offering services as guides, the workshop will help make their services and newly acquired skills available to anglers staying with local accomodations providers by building relationships with those who welcome fly fishermen and women at their establishments.
