MARATHON, ON – The Academy Awards show may seem like a distant memory, but this week we will be treated to one of the most decorated titles of the year- The King’s Speech. Winner of the Best Picture Award and Best Lead Actor (Colin Firth), The King’s Speech makes it triumphant release on DVD and Blu-Ray this Tuesday (April 19^th) at Crossover Video and Games. Joining his majesty are 14 other titles making their release this week- yes that’s right- 14 NEW RELEASES this week! Let’s have a look at these titles in detail;

The King’s Speech: starring Colin Firth- ACADEMY AWARD WINNER FOR BEST MOVIE OF THE YEAR! The story of King George VI of Britain, his impromptu ascension to the throne and the speech therapist who helped the unsure monarch become worthy of it. (DVD and Blu-Ray)

Gulliver’s Travels: starring Jack Black- Travel writer Lemuel Gulliver takes an assignment in Bermuda, but ends up on the island of Liliput, where he towers over its tiny citizens. (DVD and Blu-Ray)

Street Kings 2: starring Ray Liotta- A story of police corruption and internal affairs investigations involving the Detroit police unit (DVD and Blu-Ray)

Born to Raise Hell: starring Steven Seagal- A hard core Interpol Agent is assigned to an Eastern European task force to target gun trafficking and dope running throughout the area (DVD and Blu-Ray)

#1 Cheerleader Camp: A pair of college guys get summer jobs at a cheerleader camp. (DVD)

Colditz: starring Jason Priestly- While World War 2 Allied officer Jack Rose is held prisoner in Germany’s notorious Colditz Castle, he recruits a band of fellow escape artists in the ultimate break-out only to discover that the greatest betrayal awaits him on safe ground (DVD)

Damned by Dawn: During a violent thunderstorm, a family is awoken by piercing shrieks which summon the dead to rise again. (DVD)

I Love You Phillip Morris: starring Jim Carrey- A conman’s journey from small-town businessman to flamboyant white-collar criminal, who repeatedly finds himself in trouble with the law and on the lam, brilliantly escaping from the Texas prison system on four separate occasions– all in the name of love. (DVD)

Like Dandelion Dust: starring Mira Sorvino- The story of a struggle of the family of an adopted boy whose birth parents suddenly decide that they want him back. (DVD)

Rabbit Hole: starring Nicole Kidman- Academy Award Nominee (Nicole Kidman- Best Actress) Life for a happy couple is turned upside down after their young son dies in an accident. (DVD)

Seven of Daran: A young boy meets a talking giraffe, Seraf, at a busy market in Africa. Together with Charita, a poor African girl, the boy embarks on an adventurous and magical trip through the African jungle (DVD)

Sharpay’s Fabulous Adventure: starring Ashley Tisdale- Sharpay Evans travels to New York where she is pursuing a Broadway career but it’s her dog who lands an acting gig first. (DVD)

Somewhere: starring Stephen Dorff- A hard-living Hollywood actor re-examines his life after his 11-year-old daughter surprises him with a visit. (DVD)

White Lion: When a white lion is miraculously born into a valley, a young man named Gisani, finds himself destined to protect this rare and magnificent creature at all costs. (DVD)

FOR THE GAMERS:

Socom 4– An impressive third person shooter that is both “Move” and 3D compatible. The plot stretches over a six-day period in two main acts featuring Cullen Gray, the leader of a five man NATO special forces squad deployed in Indonesia (PS3 only)

Portal 2-The goal of the game is to manoeuvre the characters though a number of test chambers in the Aperture Science facility and traverse the level from the start to the exit. This is a first person action/puzzle game that truly tests the mind of the player (360 and PS3)

Mortal Kombat– The ninth game in the hugely popular Mortal Kombat franchise featuring 26 characters to choose from. (PS3 and 360)

CROSSOVER MARKET A SUCCESS!

Snow, snow and more snow! That was the theme of the day this past Saturday, but that did not stop six local home-based business owners from setting up their products at the Crossover Market. In attendance for this inaugural event were; Helene Coyle of Avon, Laura Coyle of Stella and Dot, Joanne Woodford of Mary Kay, Paulette Miller of Scentsy and Pampered Chef, Kathy Inwood of Silpada and Joan McKinnon representing Tupperware. The inclement weather deterred the full potential of the Market, however a decent crowd did turn out to support these businesses. The vendors were thrilled to distribute their business cards and brochures to these potential new clients.
