MANITOUWADGE PUBLIC SCHOOL IS JK READY!!

MANITOUWADGE, ON – This week our pre-registered junior kindergarten students for next school year were certainly introduced and treated to an outstanding session at MPS.  They were involved in a workshop that was put on by a very talented visiting team consisting of Shirley Saasto-Stopyra and Renee Warren from the Public Health Unit, Jen Taddeo who is a speech therapist and Kelly Sagle from the Best Start Hub.  Three of our own very capable teachers also took part to model some of the activities.  This workshop called WTK (Welcome to Kindergarten) is a Government initiative that promotes this pre-kindergarten session where educators can get an early look at next year’s JK students’ strengths while they enjoyed several centers that were packed full of learning activities.  The Health Unit provided each little JK-to-be with a bag full of goodies that they can use over the summer to better prepare them for entry into the school program.  MPS is also excited to be offering the students that have already registered for JK next year, another visit to the classroom very soon. So if you have a JK age child, be sure to get him or her registered as soon as possible in order for him or her to be included in the next day of pre-kindergarten fun at the school, and a ride on the big yellow bus as well!
