SCHREIBER, ON – Holy Angels Catholic School Kindergarten and Gr. 1 / 2 classes had the opportunity to witness an spectacular metamorphosis over the past 40 days. The young scientists documented and followed the progression as caterpillars they were keeping/caring for transformed into butterflies.

Caterpillars arrived in individual containers with food and students were able to track their progress from baby caterpillars to beautiful butterflies.  Students, staff and visitors watched in amazement and wonder as they ate, grew, formed chrysalis’ and finally hatched into beautiful butterflies.  Tuesday, June 14th, 23 Painted Lady butterflies were released in the school yard as students watched.  Having celebrated the Ascension of Jesus the week prior, these butterflies were a perfect symbol of our hope of resurrection after life, and a wonderful learning experience on the greatest change in the animal world.
