RED ROCK, ON – The gloomy weather didn’t keep the people of Red Rock and surrounding communities away on Canada Day. Festivities took place on Salls Street in Red Rock following a 50’s and 60’s theme.

The day began with a town-wide yard sale, followed by brunch at the Legion Hall. Many people participated in the Rock & Roll, Walk or Roll, dressing up in red and white and walking around town to show everyone their Canadian pride! At noon, Salls Street was closed and participants enjoyed delicious milkshakes, freezies, popcorn, smokies, pie, and candy apples. Children had the opportunity to participate in games and contests, including 1 lap races, bean bang toss, tug of war, money in the hay, and many more. Children also enjoyed face painting, inflatable bouncers, and music.

The fireworks held at the Red Rock Marina were a huge success. Families from the area came to enjoy the fireworks display put on by the Red Rock Volunteer Firefighters, who did an amazing job!

Many community organizations attended the Canada Day festivities on Salls Street and had the opportunity to raise money for their business or organization. These events could not be held annually without the support of the communities in the area, and the generosity of all who donated. Event coordinators would like to thank all volunteers, businesses and organizations, Parks Canada for bringing their mascot, Geraldton  for their volunteers and participation and everyone who came out to Salls Street in celebration of 144 years of confederation! Thank you all for making these festivities a huge success!
