MANITOUWADGE, ON – Local crafters may have noticed a very exciting new store this week as the sign went up outside ‘Happily Ever Crafter… ‘ A new business in the dowtown core owned by Vanessa Wastila-Courtemanche. Courtemanche rented the space in April after Lisa Schut closed the doors to her gently used kids items business which occupied the space for less than a year, “I was aware of other businesses who were interested in the space and didn’t want to risk loosing it” said Courtemanche. Though she had initially planned to open her business,  which sells a large variety of crafting supplies and will also offer a range of crafting classes, prior to the end of the school year, due to  personal reasons she chose to until now.

The wait seems to have peeked the interest of local crafters all the more as word quickly spread in Manitouwadge that Coutemanche’s dligience, preparations and hard work had culminated in what would be a mid-summer opening.  Though the official ‘Grand Opening’ has yet to be announced, classes for both preschoolers of 3-5yrs of age, who will learn to make piggy banks for recycled materials, and older children 6-12 yrs old, who will explore their creativity learning to make papier-maché laterns, friendship bracelets and painted garden stakes, are scheduled throughout the week. Courtemanche was pleased to announce that the majority of these clases are already fully booked though she encourages interested parents and their children to drop-in to the store as one class still has a couple seats available and of course demand/interest in the classes will determine which future classes she offers.

If you haven’t already, stop by ‘Happily Ever Crafter…’ on Huron Walk in Manitouwadge next to the Rendez-Vous Restaurant to explore the plethera of crafting supplies Vanessa has available or inquire regarding classes that will be offered for children and adults. Even if you’ve never thought of yourself as the ‘crafty’ or ‘creative’ type Vanessa says “Happily Ever Crafter…” may be the place where you find those talents, “Crafting can be a very relaxing and social activity” said Courtemanche explaining that whether you’ve crafted all your life or are intimitaded by the sight of glitter, card stock, paints and pompoms, from beginners that don’t know découpage from collage or glue from Mod Podge to seasoned crafters that plan out their scrapbooking pages in their sleep “We have something for everyone and classes will eventually be offered to suit every skill level and age”.
