Brown Announces $750,000 in Funding for Searchmont

Renovations to Improve Recreation and Tourism

SEARCHMONT, ON – Mike Brown, MPP for Algoma-Manitoulin is pleased to announce that Searchmont will be receiving $750,000 in funding through the Northern Ontario Heritage Fund Corporation (NOHFC).

Searchmont Ski Association Inc. (SSAI) will be receiving this funding to complete the following renovations/ upgrades to their resort and ski hill:

  • Complete hill remediation work
  • Purchase snowmaking equipment and a groomer
  • Upgrade mainlines and reservoir
  • Upgrade groomer and the building for the groomer
  • Upgrade the lifts and construct new lift buildings
  • Terrain park improvements

The Ontario government is committed in investing in our Northern Ontario communities. In 2011-2012 the Ontario Government increased funding to the NOHFC by $10 million for a total of $100 million.
