CHAPLEAU – Fine And Fishing Ban For Repeat Offender From Thunder Bay

A Thunder Bay man has been fined $1,000 and banned from fishing in Ontario for a year for angling-related offences.

Mark Brigden was fined $250 for fishing without a licence and $750 for making a false statement to a conservation officer.

The court heard that on March 16, 2010, a Chapleau District conservation officer checked Brigden while he was ice fishing on Racine Lake in Racine Township. Brigden indicated to the officer that he left his sport-fishing licence in Thunder Bay. Bridgen was given 10 days to produce the licence. His licence was never produced. This was Bridgen’s third fishing licence-related offence.

Justice of the Peace Theodore A. Hodgins heard the case in the Ontario Court of Justice, Chapleau, on September 14, 2011.
