NIPIGON OPP Weekend Review

NIPIGON OPP INVESTIGATE FATAL COLLISION 

NIPIGON, ON –During the weekend of September 16 to September 18, 2011 Nipigon and Schreiber Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to 21 calls for service and issued numerous Provincial Offence Notices.  Officers investigated one motor vehicle collision and conducted one R.I.D.E. check.

Nipigon OPP continue to investigate the cause of a fatal motor vehicle collision that occurred on September 16 at approximately 9:10 p.m.  A west bound tractor trailer unit left the roadway, entered the ditch and then came to rest blocking both lanes of traffic.  The 40 year old male driver, Pierre FLAMAND, of Saint Pamphile,Quebec was pronounced deceased at the scene of the collision.

Saturday September 17 at 9:40 a.m. Nipigon OPP received a call of a theft from a residence on Hwy 582, Hurkett, Ontario.  Between the early evening of September 16 and the morning of September 17, unknown persons forced their way into the residence and stole several items.  Officers continue to investigate this incident.

The Nipigon OPP are currently investigating a theft that occurred from the Grill Shack in Dorion,Ontario.  On September 5 at approximately 8:55 a.m. it was reported to the police that an unknown person had forced their way into the Grill Shack, caused damage to the building, and stole money.  The incident occurred sometime between the night of September 4 and the morning of September 5.
