Think Pink – Plan to join the fun at this worthwhile event!

MANITOUWADGE, ON – The hardworking volunteers of the Manitouwdge Cacer Assistance Group (MCAG) are planning their second THINK PINK cancer awareness and fundreaising event. It is very important to register for this awesome night of fun, fellowhsip, suppor and even leariningg (but most of all fun!) as soon as possible as there will be only be only 90 tickets available in total and at just a toonie each ($2) tickets are going quickly! Purchase your ticket(s) at Frank’s (F.P.Gorges & Sons Grocery Store) or from any Manitouwadge Cancer Assistance Group member (see listing of members below).

Participants are reminded of the request that you wear pink in support of Breast Cancer. There will be food, drinks, games and vendors for you to purchase products from. Among the vendors that have already confirmed their participation are:

  • Pampered Chef,
  • Partylite,
  • Watkins

and others who will be selling their products with a percentage of profits of the evening’s sales being donated to the MCAG.  a percentage of their sales from that night to the Manitouwadge Cancer Assistance Group.

There will be several other stations at the event, included in these are:

  • an information table about Breast (and other) Cancer
  • a table with candles to be lit in memory or in honour of a friend or family member who has battled cancer

All monies raised through games and vendors (speak with specific vendor regarding their chosen %) will go to the MANITOUWADGE CANCER ASSISTANCE GROUP. All money will be used to support residents of Manitouwadge battling cancer.

There will be one exception in regards to directing of funds raised. Sisters Nickie Chic and Shelley Hogan-Gervais, and Shelley’s daughter Julia Gervais, will have a separate table set up with items to purchase for which funds will be directed to the local Chemo Therapy Room at Manitouwadge General Hospital. Nickie and Shelley lost their Mom, much too young, from cancer.  During her battle however she fought hard, and part of her fight meant spending a significant amount of time in the Chemotherapy room at MGH.  In 2008 while their Mom was fighting cancer they were inspired to plan the first ‘Think Pink’ evening, originally intending to direct the funds raised to help “Spruce Up” the Chemo Room at MGH.  The ladies had spent a great deal of time with their Mother getting her chemo treatments there and hoped to make the room a little more enjoyable for all those needing to use the room. In the end they had donated the fundsraised at that time (original Think Pink 2008) to the Manitouwadge Cancer Assistance Group feeling this was also an incredibly worthwhile cause. Sadly in 2009 the Ladies’ Mother passed away, they believe the rom could still use some ‘sprucing up’ and so any moneys collected from the Chic-Hogan-Gervais Ladies’ Table they are responsible for at the 2011 Think Pink will go to the Chemotherapy Room at Manitouwadge General Hospital.
