MARATHON, ON – The 8th of January 2012, Marathon Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a report of a suspicious package at a residence in Marathon.
Police were contacted when a Marathon resident realized that there was a package of unknown origin contained within a parcel that they had received. The original sender of the package was contacted and confirmed that the suspicious portion of the package had not been placed in the box at the original point of mailing.
Unable to confirm the nature of the wrapped package police contacted the Explosives Disposal Unit (EDU) to attend and establish the nature of the package. The EDU team completed their investigation and determined that the package was not dangerous in nature.
