Terrace Bay Continues Efforts to Attract Thunder Bay Tourists

The Township of Terrace Bay attended the 2012 Outdoor Show on the weekend as part of their marketing plan to attract Thunder Bay tourists.  Terrace Bay representatives showed off the different attractions in the Municipality and spoke to the outdoor lifestyle that is a scenic two hour drive from Thunder Bay.  Dean Main, the Community Development Supervisor, says “the Thunder Bay market is a natural fit for Terrace Bay with its close proximity and similar interests.  We have a variety of enjoyable one and two day trips that can be easily done on a weekend.”  As part of the marketing campaign, a webpage specific to Thunder Bay residents was created at the address www.enjoyterracebay.ca and it features itineraries, maps and information on the areas charters, lodge and tourism businesses.  The booth at the Outdoors Show had approximately 500 Visitors inquire for more information.  Visitors seemed most interested in the 52km Casques Isles Hiking Trail, the Annual Dragfest Festival, enjoying Lake Superior and the unique Slate Islands Provincial Park with its friendly population of Woodland Caribou.  Terrace Bay has plans to evaluate other advertising methods for reaching Thunder Bay Tourists building on 2011 initiatives including large billboards in Thunder Bay and advertising in the New Horizons Magazine towards retirees.
