$200,000+ Marijuana Seized in Traffic Stop on Hwy 17

TRAFFIC STOP LEADS TO DRUG SEIZURE

MARATHON, ON – Friday March 16, 2012 an officer from the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Marathon detachment conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle travelling Westbound on Highway 17  in Pic Township, East of Marathon in the District of Thunder Bay. During the traffic stop a quantity of cannabis marihuana was discovered in the vehicle with an estimated value of approximately $203,600.00

The driver Nicholas LAPIERRE a 29 year old male from Pointe-Claire, Quebec was charged with Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking a Schedule II substance.

The accused was held for video court and remanded into custody and transferred to the Thunder Bay District Jail awaiting trial.
