HIT AND RUN COLLISON RESULTS IN MULTIPLE CHARGES

HORNEPAYNE, ON – November 25, 2012 at 2:00 am the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Superior East Hornepayne Detachment officers were called to a residence on Sixth Avenue for a hit and run motor vehicle collision and possible impaired driver.   Upon arrival OPP were advised by witnesses that a black Ford Edge had backed into the driveway, struck the vehicle parked there and then drove away.  The witnesses identified the driver of the Edge for police.

OPP attended the residence of the driver and the accused was located inside the home fighting with another male.  An odour of an alcoholic beverage was detected emanating from him and as a result he was placed under arrest.  During the arrest the male assaulted the arresting officer.

Investigation into the hit and run collision revealed a related domestic disturbance complaint.  As a result the 36 year old male stands charged with the following;

1. Criminal Harassment
2. Assault
3. Break and Enter
4. Impaired Operation of Motor Vehicle
5. Exceed 80 mgs Blood Alcohol Content
6. Domestic Mischief
7. Obstruct Peace Officer
8. Assault Peace Officer
9. Fail to Report Accident

He was transported to Sault Ste Marie for bail hearing and has been released with conditions with a court date of February 7, 2013 in Hornepayne.

OPP do not release names in domestic matters to protect the identity of the victim.
