MOTOR VEHICLE COLLISION HWY 17

NIPIGON, ON – December 11, 2012 at 5:50 p.m. Schreiber Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a report of a motor vehicle collision at Hwy 17, Cavers Hill, Township of Yesno.

At approximately 4:00 p.m., the driver of an east bound Buick Sport Utility Vehicle lost control on an icy section of roadway, struck guard posts, and rolled over a steep embankment.  The motor vehicle came to rest upside down on the north side of the highway.  After approximately 2 hours, the passenger was able to exit the vehicle and assist the driver from the vehicle.

TWD Roads Management employees observed damaged guard posts at the scene and located the vehicle occupants.  Schreiber OPP, Terrace Bay and Schreiber Ambulance, and Terrace Bay and Schreiber Fire Departments attended the scene of the collision.

The driver, a 65 year old female and the passenger, a 40 year old male of Terrace Bay, Ontario, were removed from the scene and transported to McCausland Hospital in Terrace Bay for injuries sustained in the collision.
