First Nation Recipients Receive Noront Resources Mikawaa Scholarship

August 26, a luncheon was held in Rumours Dining Room at Confederation College to present three students with the Noront Resources Mikawaa Scholarship.

Marlene Shewaybick from Webequie First Nation, Holly Mendowegan from Aroland First Nation and Glen Wabasse from Webequie First Nation were each presented with scholarships. These students will be continuing their education at Confederation College this fall with Holly and Marlene registering in the Forest Ecosystem Management program and Glen registering in the Business Fundamentals program.

The Noront Resources Mikawaa Scholarship Program (NRMSP) is an award program sponsored by Noront Resources Ltd. for community members of Webequie and Marten Falls, and students enrolled in the Kiikenomaga Kikenjigewen Employment and Training Services Aboriginal Skills Advancement Pilot Program (KKETS ASAPP), who are planning to pursue postsecondary education. The NRMSP was established to encourage members of First Nation communities to continue their education and pursue academic excellence.
