Very few franchises have enjoyed the longevity, diversity and box office success of X-Men. With six films already in the series (including this week’s headliner), a seventh film is currently in production. Take into consideration the combined worldwide box office revenue of a whopping 2.3 BILLION dollars and it’s no wonder that the franchise is still very much alive and well to this day. The latest film in the series to hit the shelves is “Wolverine”, a spin-off featuring the popular character from X-Men. Starring Hugh Jackman, Wolverine leads a strong cast of six new releases this week.

Here is a brief synopsis of each title;

Wolverine: starring Hugh Jackman – When Wolverine is summoned to Japan by an old acquaintance, he is caught in a conflict that forces him to confront his own demons. (Action/Adventure) (DVD, Blu-Ray and 3D Blu-Ray) Also available to rent at 2 Doors Down in Manitouwadge!

The Smurfs 2: starring Neil Patrick Harris– The Smurfs team up with their human friends to rescue Smurfette, who has been kidnapped after learning about a secret spell that can turn Naughties into Smurfs. Mortal Instruments City of Bones: starring Lily Collins and Kevin Zegers– After the disappearance of her Mother, a young lady discovers that she descends from a line of warriors who protect our world from demons. She joins forces with others like her in a dangerous quest to the Downworld. (Adventure) (DVD and Blu-Ray) Also available to rent at 2 Doors Down in Manitouwadge!

Drinking Buddies: starring Olivia Wilde, Anna Kendrick and Ron Livingston- A pair of co-workers at a brewery spend their days drinking and flirting with each other. They are the perfect couple except for one problem- they’re already in relationships. (Drama/Comedy) (DVD)

All the Boys Love Mandy Lane: starring Amber Heard– A group of high-schoolers invite quiet Mandy Lane to a weekend party on a secluded ranch. While the festivities rage on, members of the party begin to mysteriously turn up murdered. (Horror) (DVD) VIEWER DISCRETION ADVISED

Butcher Boys: starring Ali Faulkner – A birthday celebration at an upscale restaurant sets in motion events that bring a lady, her brother, and their friends, face to face with the Boneboys- a terrifying group of cannibals. FOR THE GAMERS

After a few weeks of large numbers of very significant new game releases, gamers (and their wallets) will get a bit of a break this week as no new games will be launched. The biggest hype in the industry still surrounds the recent release of the PS4 and XBOX One. We are currently sold out of both new systems, but we are taking names and phone numbers of people who are interested in being added to our waiting list.

At this point in time, we unfortunately cannot make any guarantees about when we’ll be getting more or how many we’ll be getting. These items are HOT sellers everywhere and currently very hard to find. We are doing our very best to get our hands on more PS4’s and XBOX One’s as soon as possible!
