Recognizing Volunteers

NATIONAL VOLUNTEER WEEK 2010

National Volunteer Week, the biggest celebration of volunteers and volunteerism in our
country begins this Sunday, April 18th continuing through the 24th, and Volunteer Canada wants to make sure that your organization is prepared to celebrate the achievements and hard work of all the volunteers around you! Thanks to the generous support of Investors Group, Volunteer Canada has developed a wealth of resources, social media tools and products to help.

Take the time this National Volunteer Week to recognize the 12.5 million volunteers nationwide by saying thank you. In the last year, they gave 2.1 billion hours of their time,
energy and skills to the benefit of our community services, shelters, hospitals, sports teams, environment, political movements, disaster relief, international aid and development agencies and arts and culture scene to name a few. They are the selfless individuals who demonstrate their genuine compassion for the well being of others and in support of essential causes, by taking action and by making a difference.

The campaign’s theme, “Volunteers. from compassion to action.” encompasses their inspiration.

A new National Volunteer Week campaign has been developed with a fresh new look and innovative ways to communicate. Social media has been incorporated and Volunteer Canada invites  all its members to join on the National Volunteer Week Facebook page and NVW Twitter feed.  This year, Volunteer Canada is also introducing some new promotional items that can be purchased as thank you gifts for those volunteers you wish to recognize.

Please join Volunteer Canada and OntarioNewsNorth.com in celebrating National Volunteer Week in 2010, as volunteers and the power of the volunteer across this nation are honoured.
