Sioux Narrows Sudden Death

KENORA, ON – On the 13th of June the Sioux Narrows/Nestor Falls Ontario Provincial Police (PP) responded to a report of a subject who had jumped off of the bridge on Hwy 71 in Sioux Narrows.  The missing male was identified s 22 year old Gerald JONASSON of Edinburgh, North Dakota (USA). It was determined through investigation that the death was accidental.

A search was conducted by Sioux Narrows/Nestor Falls Fire Department as well as local residents.  The OPP Under Water Search and Rescue Unit as well as the Kenora OPP marine unit were called to the scene and subsequently retrieved thee body.

The Kenora OPP would like to remind people that, as well as being extremely dangerous, it is an offence to jump off of any bridge into  navigable waterway.
