Premier Offers Condolences For Tsunami Victims

Terrible Natural Disaster Strikes Japan

Ontario Premier Dalton McGuinty today made the following statement regarding the earthquake and tsunami in Japan:

“Like many Ontarians, I was shocked this morning to hear news that an earthquake and subsequent tsunami had struck Japan.

I met this morning with the Japanese ambassador and expressed our condolences and concern.

Our deepest sympathies are with those who have lost loved ones and our hearts go out to those who are trying to reach their family members and friends. Our thoughts are also with those throughout the Pacific region who may also be affected by the tsunami.

We have strong ties with Japan and its people. When a natural disaster happens on the other side of the world, our global ties remind us of how connected we are.

Right now emergency workers are searching for survivors and communities are coming together to help. We will work with all Canadians to provide whatever assistance may be required to help the people of Japan.”
