Fat Vs. Muscle

Muscle is almost as dense as fat; a pound of fat is 1.7 times bigger than a pound of muscle. So even though muscle weighs more than fat, fat makes you look bigger.
So jump on that cardio machine, a 145 lb. person burns about 300 calories in 30 minutes on the elliptical trainer.

Making a few subtle changes to your bench press can make the difference between an average workout and one that perfects your pecs. Throughout the movement always ensure that you glutes stay on the bench. Some women think pushing with their feet so their glutes come up off the bench will help them lift more weight. This not only dangerous, but it decreases the amount of weight your pecs are lifting. Proper breathing is also essential. Before lowering the bar, take a deep breath; your torso will be more solid, so you can generate power. Proper breathing also stabilizes the muscles of the thorax.

Running;  Many runners believe they have to run a lot of miles each week to be able to race in a marathon. However, the opposite is often true. Running too many miles can slow you down. Set up a program to run fast and short on some days and long on others. A goal for fast days could be to run repeat intervals with short rests in between each. On longer days, run at a steady pace for about 90 minutes.  Change it up, run, jog, walk briskly, run, jog, walk briskly.  You won’t be bored of repetitiveness and in the long run is better on your knees.;
