MANITOUWADGE, ON – Wednesday, March  27th, the Township of Manitouwadge Community Services department, in collaboration with the Manitouwadge Best Start Hub, welcomed families to the Recreation Centre Auditorium for their annual Easter Extravaganza.

Children and parents alike, enjoyed Easter themed crafts, suitable for any age or artisitic ability, including colouring pages, Bunny Masks, decorating paper eggs and egg Hunt bags .  There were snacks and refreshments for sale and, for budget or environmentally conscious attendees juice was free when you brought your own cup/

It wasn’t long before the lights went out to get everyone’s attention because a special visitor had arrived… Apparently the ladies at the Best Start Hub and the team at Community Services had pulled some strings, or maybe called in some favours, however they managed it so close to the big day no one would reveal but THE EASTER BUNNY arrived! E.B. hopped in to the auditorium taking the time to shake paws, hug young fans and pose for many photos. On the way out everyone’s favourite rabbit even left some treats behind (unfortunately, with Easter so early this year and Winter dragging on so late the hunt could not take place outside) so that the evening wound up with an egg-hunt practice run (to ensure kids would be fully prepared for Easter morning of course).

Organizers had little ones, up to 4 years of age take the first trip down the hall and out to the lobby collecting handfulls of chocolate eggs along the way before the older kids had their turn which also took them down the hall, out into the lobby and even down the hall which leads past the curling ice windows towards the rear exit.  It was great to see how, in spite of their excitement, the kids never seemed to loose sight of the hunt being among friends as they were careful and respectful of one another, and on more than one occasion children were seen taking from their own collections to add to that of other kids who had not been quite as lucky in the hunt.

The event seemed to be a hit with all those who attended. A big thank you to all those involved in organizing this year’s annual Easter Extravaganza ensuring it was a wonderful evening once again!
